Your first consultation is an opportunity to meet Dr. Seiff and his team to discuss your concerns and potential treatments. A staff member will first review your medical history and reasons for visiting. Dr. Seiff will then conduct an examination and discuss your medical or aesthetic concerns in detail. Together, you’ll explore treatment options and develop a personalized plan. If surgery is recommended, you’ll meet with the surgical coordinator to begin scheduling.
During your initial consultation, you’ll meet with the surgical coordinator. If possible, you’ll receive a surgery date immediately. Otherwise, our office will contact you within a few days to confirm availability. Scheduling depends on factors such as Dr. Seiff’s and the surgery center’s schedules, medical clearance from your primary care physician, and, in some cases, insurance pre-certification. The typical timeframe from consultation to surgery is 3–4 weeks.
Most surgeries are performed at the Delaware Surgery Center, located on the first floor of the Eden Hill Medical Center in Dover, DE, where our main office is also situated. If you are a Lewes office patient, your pre- and post-operative care can be handled there, but the surgery itself will occur in Dover. The Delaware Surgery Center is about 40 minutes north of Lewes. Directions will be provided by our staff.
Instructions will vary based on your procedure and the type of anesthesia used. For sedation procedures, do not eat after midnight the night before, but you may take necessary medications with small sips of water. Arrange for a driver to accompany you. Plan to stay for several hours, which includes preparation, surgery, and recovery time. For local procedures without sedation, you may have a light breakfast and may drive yourself home if approved. Detailed instructions will be provided before your surgery.

Recovery varies depending on the procedure and patient. Most patients will have stitches at incision sites, requiring ointment application several times daily. Stitches often dissolve naturally, but some may need to be removed by Dr. Seiff after about a week. Bandages are typically unnecessary, but ice or cool compresses should be applied frequently in the first few days to minimize bruising and swelling. Most bruising resolves within 1–2 weeks. Pain is usually minimal; as Dr. Seiff often says, “You’ll look worse than you feel for a few days.” Rest, follow aftercare instructions, and allow your body to heal.
Costs vary depending on whether the surgery is medically necessary or cosmetic. Medically necessary surgeries may be covered by insurance, but you may still be responsible for deductibles or co-pays. Cosmetic surgeries are not covered by insurance, and you will be responsible for the full cost. Dr. Seiff will evaluate your needs during your consultation and discuss costs based on your unique goals and treatment plan. Before scheduling, our staff will review fees, payment options, and deposit requirements with you. The balance must be paid before your surgery.
